Rosie Catmur, Board Member

Retired Hotel Manager, Current Part time flower slinger at Alpengardener and Office Assistant for Doug Gorman

Originally from England, Rosie Catmur has called the Gunnison valley home since 1988, when she & her husband Martin moved here from Denver with their children Emma & Nicholas. They owned & operated the Cristiana Guesthaus in Crested Butte for almost thirty years until they sold the business in 2017. They now live in Gunnison where they enjoy only working part time, spending time with their grandkids and getting outdoors to hike, bike and ski.

Rosie has volunteered over the years with many local organizations, most notably the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival, the CB/ Mt CB Chamber of Commerce, CB Community School and PTA, and Mentors.

Previously Rosie has been involved with Living Journeys both as a participant and as a volunteer for the Peak Hike. On one occasion she hiked with a group determined to help a close friend with breast cancer summit the mountain. Due to bad weather, they were not able to do so and were never able to hike together again before cancer claimed their friend’s life. In honor of her friend and her father, who she also lost to cancer, Rosie is grateful to be a part of all Living Journeys does to support those in our community battling cancer.

Marlene Crosby, Board Member

Retired Public Works Director, Current President of the Gunnison Cemetery District Board

Marlene Crosby has the rare distinction of being a native of Gunnison.  She was born and raised in Gunnison, and graduated from Gunnison High School.  She attended Western State College for one year and then spent 3 years in Madrid, Spain.  Returning to Gunnison she worked as a teacher’s aide which resulted in her return to WSC and changing her major to Elementary Education/Business Administration.  In 1985, she was hired at Gunnison County Road and Bridge as an Administrative Assistant.  She was the first woman to work in that department.  She loved her job and the people she worked with, and for, and retired as Public Works Director in 2022 after 37 years of service.

Marlene and her husband Don have two children and 3 granddaughters that are very important in their lives.   She serves as President of the Gunnison Cemetery District Board.  She has been active in fraternal organizations that serve the community for over 50 years.  Currently she supports her husband in his role as president of the Gunnison Home Association.  They are active volunteers at both the Palisades Senior RV Park and at the Willows Assisted Living.

Marlene was the primary caregiver for her mom’s journey with cancer and also for her only sibling who was a 17-year breast cancer survivor before it returned as lung cancer.  Multiple generations of her family have been impacted by cancer and she realizes that support for the patients and the families is a critical part of the path forward.  She is anxious to continue her support to others as a member of our Board.
