Having lived in the Gunnison Valley since 2014, I have long been aware of Living Journeys’ active role in our valley. However, it was in 2017, when I was diagnosed with Stage III endometrial cancer, that I became intimately more familiar with how they support families dealing with all types of cancer diagnosis.
My family and I received not only financial help with hospital bills, but also crucial emotional support through both their support groups and private therapy grants.
Living Journeys’ Kids Groups have also offered so many meaningful experiences for my children to be around other kids in similar situations. Cancer impacted our entire family and I felt comfort knowing these groups are led by adults who understand this specific type of trauma on children.
In my mind, there is no greater resource for cancer support in the Gunnison Valley. I will always be grateful for the work Living Journeys does for everyone who has been and will be affected by cancer in our community.
