The Living Journeys Annual Summit Hike is one of CB's most iconic events of the summer. This incredible fundraising event would not be possible without sponsors like Mountain Colors (@crestedbuttecolors & @crestedbuttedesign) Crested Butte’s beloved paint, lighting, and decorative hardware shop, offering the best products & consulting services in the valley. 🎨💡
The Living Journeys team recently chatted with the owner of Mountain Colors, Kim Raines. Her heartfelt message to those fighting cancer in the Gunnison Valley: “You will not be alone. I will continue to do what I can, while I can.”
We ❤️ you, Kim! In her own words...
“I remember vividly how I learned about Living Journeys. My customer Annie Coburn walked in and asked for a gift certificate for Living Journeys. I asked about the organization, she told me a short summary, and I gave a $100 gift certificate. And then the next year, she came by and I did it again.
The big C was really starting to mess with my life. I lost my father-in-law to a very quick 6-month fight in 2006 and then my shop mom Mary passed away years later. Diagnosis after diagnosis, fight after fight, I watched my friends and family members battle this awful disease. Some have won and some have lost but all fought a fight worth talking about.
Both of my boys have hiked the peak for Living Journeys from inside my belly, to our backpacks, to their own two feet, all in support of the grandfather they never met. They have always understood the importance of this event.”
Living Journeys is so grateful for the generous support of Mountain Colors over the years and can't wait to hike with Kim and our incredible community at the 23rd annual Summit Hike on July 29th. We invite you to join us this year and to support, celebrate, and remember those that have bravely battled cancer in the Gunnison Valley.

Everything is better with friends - and our upcoming Summit Hike and Trail Run events on 7/29 are no exception. Tag your pals in the comments and challenge them to take on Mt. CB and help support those in our community fighting cancer! And, if you’re particularly ambitious and plan to hike from the base, your fluffy pal can come along to share in this unforgettable experience. Their 🐾 4 feet 🐾 can accompany your 2 feet on the 2,000-foot journey from start to finish on July 29th!

Today marks a day of celebration - it’s National Cancer Survivors Day! ❤️ Join us in acknowledging countless brave cancer survivors right here in the Gunnison Valley and across the country.
Cancer changes a person’s emotional and physical health in ways those unaffected might not understand. For #NCSD2023, we’re joining @cancersurvivorsday to raise awareness that surviving isn’t the end of the story – all cancer survivors deserve vibrant, fulfilling lives, for the entirety of their lives.
Part of our purpose at Living Journeys is to support individuals battling cancer as they navigate the many difficulties - seen and unseen - that accompany a cancer diagnosis. Our hope is that our assistance positively affects survivors for years to come as recovery transforms into rebuilding their lives. Want to learn how you can offer your support?
